Community Service
Regardless of our individual circumstance, we are all quite fortunate to live in both the time and place we do. In recognition of our circumstances, The Academy asks that all students be involved in their community.
- Students must complete a minimum of 40 hours of service each year.
- Students will have between June 1 and May 31 to complete this work.
- There is no specific monthly requirement but students should be sure to plan ahead and not wait until the last minute.
- Students should find a community service project that is meaningful to them.
- Community service work may be done over vacations or holidays, including summer.
- The entire requirement could be completed in one week's time. For instance, students traveling to the Dominican Republic, Mississippi, or volunteering for an organized event like a run for cancer or walk for MS might fulfill all of their hours at the same trip or event.
- Students must use the new reporting rubric.
